Leather (Sandals)
The Greeks would distinguish the sandals between the paxeia and the kothornos. The first kind was a sandal made of willow leaves, twigs, or fibers. They were worn by comic actors and philosophers. A kothornos was a shoe worn by tragic actors, horsemen, hunters, and men of rank and authority. This kind of shoe was a boot sandal that rose above the middle of the leg and the sole was much thicker by the insertion of slices of cork so as to add the stature of the wearer. Sandals are still worn around the world and are one of the most fashionable accessories both for women and men. Also, there are various goods that are made of leather which are used by Ancient Greeks such as clothes, bags, shoes, etc. Don’t miss the opportunity to feel the Ancient Greek vibes with a couple of leather sandals.
